The Chinese Garden of Friendship - Darling Harbour
Known as the Garden of Friendship, the Chinese Garden is an integral part of Darling Harbour, created by the New South Wales Government to recognise the importance of commercial and community ties with China. New South Wales is the sister state of Guangdong province in south-east China. The garden's design, by the Guangdong Landscaping Bureau, was a gift to Sydney from its Chinese sister city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province, and embodies principles dating back to the 5th century. The Garden is a haven of calm in the heart of the city and the pavilion has become a Sydney landmark. It provides a graceful place to rest, rejuvenate and gain an insight into Chinese culture
Located on Darling Harbour and easily accessed by using the Monorail, Open from 9.30am-5pm daily.

Ray Nesci's Bonsai Nursery
Ray Nesci has set up an exhibition area and has opened it up for any club if they want to hold an exhibition or a workshop. Sydney City Bonsai Club
The club is an ideal way to increase your knowledge of bonsai and meet other bonsai enthusiasts located in the Sydney's inner city and eastern suburbs. Our relaxed monthly meetings are a great opportunity to bring in trees for display or advice, attend workshops and discuss styling and shaping or just chat about bonsai in a friendly environment.

National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia (NBPCA) - Canberra
The NBPCA is the first, national, permanent collection of bonsai in Australia and provides a place for bonsai artists from across the country to demonstrate & display their highest achievements in the art of bonsai using a variety of species and styles.

The NBPCA's temporary location is located near the Commonwealth Avenue end of Commonwealth Park in Canberra, ACT.

Auburn Japanese Gardens - Botanical Gardens - Auburn
The Aurburn Japanese gardens are located in the Botanical gardens at Auburn. This is where the School of Bonsai received permission from the Auburn council to house a permanent display of Bonsai. There is also a structure to house the schools and students Bonsai. The Bonsai school have built a mini Japanese garden (besides the one that is already at the gardens) in the very large courtyard and the Koi society have built a very nice pond with filled with Koi, the whole setting is quite superb. The age of the gardens are at least 15-20 years old. The gardens also boast a nice group of bird aviaries.

Janet makes unique bonsai pots, which are wheel thrown, free form and other special sculptural techniques ensuring no two are exactly the same.

The Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre - Cowra
Opened in 1979, the Japanese Garden has become Cowra's major tourist attraction. Designed by the internationally renowned landscape architect Ken Nakajima, the five hectare Garden follows the Kai-yu Shiki style of the Edo era that flourished in the 1600's. Of his Cowra garden design he has written: "The Japanese treasure nature and try to live with it. My Cowra garden takes this principle into consideration as a 'motto' and treasures all existing objects. In this respect, you will note that all gum trees and rocks on the site have been utilised in their original state." Streams cascade in waterfalls into two large ponds, while meandering paths reveal picturesque wooden bridges, a traditional Tea House, Arbor, Pottery, Pergola, Bonsai House, a Bonsho temple bell and sculptured hedges.

The Bonsai House contains many fine examples of miniature Japanese gardens and trees, while the Potter House has a resident potter producing a range of Japanese inspired tableware for purchase in the souvenir shop by visitors. In mid-October the Garden celebrates the cherry blossoms with Sakura Matsuri, a festival bringing hundreds of visitors to see demonstrations of the arts and crafts of Japan. It also contains a Restaurant and Gift Shop.

Mirkwood Forest Bonsai Pottery
Mirkwood Forest Bonsai pottery was established by potter Pat Kennedy, to produce quality bonsai pots. Each pot is manufactured using a combination of wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques, and this, along with a cross combination of various clay bodies and glazes ensures no two pots are identical.

Gosford Edogawa Commemorative Garden - Gosford
The Japanese gardens at East Gosford is a young garden (in Japanese terms) being created in 1994. It incorporates a Koi pond, a tea house, a Zen garden and a wisteria walk. The Bonsai Society of the Central Coast uses this place as its home-base. The city of Gosford is the sister city to Edagowa in Japan

Koreshoff Bonsai Nursery - NOW CLOSED
On 28 January 2008 THE Koreshoff Bonsai nursery closed their doors ending an era in which Vita and Dot Koreshoff were instrumental in making bonsai a meaningful hobby and interest in Australia. Dorothy and her late husband, Vita, started their hobby around 1930,and her daughters Deborah and Ruslana also joined in with this love of Bonsai.
